Nitish Kumar takes oath as Bihar CM for a record-tying ninth time after coming back to the NDA.

Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar’s chief minister for the eighth time, just hours after resigning from the RJD-JD(U) alliance. Nitish Kumar last took oath as chief minister in 2022, when he broke with the NDA and formed the RJD, Congress, and Left alliance in Bihar. Between 2022 and 2024, Nitish Kumar took the initiative in forming an alliance with opposition parties to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In June 2023, he held the first gathering of the opposition parties before they took the name INDIA.

Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha have been named as the two Deputy Chief Ministers in the new Bihar cabinet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Nitish Kumar, Samrat Choudhary, and Vijay Sinha on their oaths as Bihar’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
