Many states announce a dry day on January 22nd to celebrate the inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Several nations will observe a ‘dry day’ on January 22, the day of the opening of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, ‘in commemoration of Lord Rama’s return to his birthplace’.

On January 22, Chhattisgarh became the first state to proclaim an alcohol sales ban. Assam followed suit, with Tourism Minister Jayant Malla Barau issuing the statement.

Uttar Pradesh, which is the epicenter of the incident, will also impose a statewide alcohol ban on January 22.

Why has this date been chosen?

According to Hindu legend, Lord Ram was conceived during the confluence of Mrigashirsha Nakshatra, Amrit Siddhi Yoga, Abhijit Muhurat, and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga. All of these fortunate dates will coincide on January 22, 2024, giving it a suitable date for pran pratishtha, or the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
