R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival

India is all set to have an impressive showing at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. India is the Country of Honour at the coveted festival taking place between May 17 to 25. As a part of the focus, R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will get its red carpet world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 19.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect recounts events from the life of former ISRO aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan.  Nambi made great strides in his field but was also accused of espionage. R Madhavan will play the  titular role.

Reacting to the announcement of his movie’s world premiere, the actor took to Instagram to share his joy, “I’m in a daze! I just started by wanting to tell the story of Nambi Narayanan and I’m unable to believe all that’s happening. With God’s grace, we’ve waited long and I’m grateful and thrilled to watch all good things happening for the film. As a debut director, my nervousness is making it difficult for me to breathe & all I hope is to make India proud!”

R Madhavan who was last seen in Decoupled has also produced, directed and written the film, which is set to premiere at the Palais des Festivals. It will get its theatrical release on July 1 this year.

India’s inclusion as the Country of Honour at the 75th Cannes Film Festival is momentous, as it is in line with the country’s 75th year of Independence. It was recently announced that Deepika Padukone will be part of the competition jury at the festival.
