Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has weighed in on Aamir Khan’s latest cinematic triumph, Sitaare Zameen Par, lauding its blend of humor, emotion, and entertainment. In a social post today, Babu described the film as reminiscent of Aamir’s classic works, predicting it will “make you laugh, cry and clap.
Aamir’s Return with Heart and Soul
After the resounding success of Taare Zameen Par (2007), Aamir Khan returned this June with Sitaare Zameen Par—a heartfelt sports comedy drama adapted from the Spanish film Champions, produced by Khan and Aparna Purohit, directed by R. S. Prasanna. The story follows a suspended basketball coach (Aamir) who, as part of community service, trains a team of players with special needs.
Critics and audiences alike have praised the film’s thoughtful handling of neurodiversity, delivering both emotional depth and lighthearted humor. The ensemble cast, including Genelia D’Souza, has also attracted appreciation for bringing authentic warmth to the narrative.
Box Office Boom: Aamir’s Comeback Sees Big Numbers
Released on June 20, Sitaare Zameen Par exceeded every expectation:
- ₹11.5 crore on opening day in India, surpassing forecasted single-digit earnings.
- Grossed approximately ₹59.9 crore over its first weekend, landing it as the 6th-biggest Hindi weekend opening of 2025, outpacing many action-centric titles.
- By day 4, collections crossed ₹60 crore, maintaining strong weekday momentum.
The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) particularly praised the film for its theatrical-only release, with Aamir Khan Productions thanking MAI for supporting the decision to skip OTT, preserving the magic of the big-screen experience.
