Now Designer Nida Mahmood is designing weddings

Designer Nida Mahmood has extended her unique ethos to bridal decoration under her new collaborative company called ‘Blue Teapot Weddings’, and it’s a unique mix of pretty wedding essentials with the Mad Hatter’s tea party.
Madmood shares with LIFESTYLE, “Weddings are all about tradition, but do we want to cut-copy-past what has already been done? We believe in bringing out the beauty of India in many different ways but in a language that is different yet relatable.”

Mahmood states, “Quirk in the traditional space is a great combination – it helps bring in freshness, and spunk and newness to ideas that have been done before. My sensibility is strongly rooted in India and what this beautiful culture has to offer. My quirks bring in that perfect balance of tradition and fun in wedding decor.”

Yet as a woman, does she ever experience conflict in exerting authority? Mahmood says she doesn’t, explaining, “We sort of live in a male dominated world, but I have never let that pull me down. I have run a successful business so far, and I see no reason why this would pose a problem now. Besides, I feel it is more about human relations than male versus woman. It has worked for me to build my relations with people I work with and I think that’s the best way to handle work.”

“The most important thing to start with is to identify the colour story one wants and what kind of look one identifies with. Work with ideas that resonate with your style,” she reveals.
