Varun Dhawan – Zaa News

Varun Dhawan has spoken up on the lack of good-old Bollywood masala films post pandemic. He shares his views on how Hindi cinema is deeply influenced by the western culture and is thus increasingly seeing a decline in this genre of films.

Varun has been part of mass entertainers such as Judwaa 2 and Main Tera Hero and quite recently, Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

He went on to elaborate on how filmmakers and actors are a little unsure about what kind of films will do well in the box-office in the post pandemic world.

Speaking to a leading entertainment portal, he stated, “We have stopped making big-scale, masala family entertainers because we are too influenced by the West… To begin with, no one knows what type of films will work. From the biggest producers to trade people, no one does and still every week we will come out and give gyaan (knowledge) that this works, that works.”

As for his choice of work, he added how he has always believed in the genre of family entertainers. So have his recent co-stars Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor.

On the work front, Varun has Bhediya and Bawaal in the pipeline.
