IPL 2024: MI’s first win

Rohit Sharma, the former Mumbai Indians captain, scored 1,000 runs against the Delhi Capitals in the 20th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. Rohit failed to get his first 50 runs in the IPL 2024, as the seasoned Indian opener was cleaned out by spinner Axar Patel. After Axar dismissed Rohit for 49 off 24 balls, bowler Anrich Nortje took the huge wicket of Suryakumar Yadav in his return game at the Wankhede Stadium. The Delhi Capitals mounted a comeback after MI’s openers controlled the powerplay.

However, spinner Axar Patel defeated Ishan Kishan (42) with a one-handed stunner following the powerplay. Skipper Hardik Pandya contributed 33 from 39 balls before Tim David and Romario Shepherd propelled MI to a massive total. Batting 45 off 21 balls, David was a mere spectator as power-hitter Shepherd hammered 32 runs in pacer Anrich Nortje’s penultimate over. Shepherd’s six-hitting masterpiece powered MI to 234-5 after 20 overs.
