On Sunday Tibetian spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said India and China have \u201cgreat potential\u201d and they could work together at a \u201cpractical level\u201d.<\/p>\n
“I think, a great potential\u2026 India and China combined are doing more compassionate work\u2026 At a practical level also. Imagine two billion people working together,\u201d he told reporters here after inaugurating Smile Foundation\u2019s initiative, The World of Children. The spiritual leader, who has lived in India in self-imposed exile since 1959, said neither country had the \u201cability to destroy the other\u201d. \u201cWhether you like it or not, you have to live side by side,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
All thinkers of Nalanda are Indian. So Nalanda\u2019s tradition is India\u2019s tradition,\u201d he said. The Nalanda traditions had turned Tibetans, who were warriors, into more compassionate, peaceful and non-violent nation, he said. \u201cSo sometimes in Delhi, teasing my Indian friend, (I say) if Tibet still remained in the previous way of life, like Mongols, Chinese invasion may not have taken place,\u201d the Dalai Lama said in a lighter vein. He said nobody in the world wanted violence but it was happening \u201cbecause our minds are dominated by destructive emotions due to short-sightedness\u201d.<\/p>\n
