During the same year, Wasser was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome (TSS) that began consuming her legs. Finally, she had to get her right leg, below the knee, amputated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1433\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1433\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailychakra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1433 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thedailychakra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tam-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"Lauren Wasser\" width=\"239\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1433\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lauren Wasser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Doctors had advised her to get both legs amputated, Wasser decided to fight and save her left leg.\u00a0\u00a0Since then, Wasser has dedicated her life to raising awareness about the prevention of TSS, including the potential risk of using tampons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;In a few months, I&#8217;m inevitably going to have my other leg amputated.
