Singer-actor SP Balasubrahmanyam, who was\nearlier this month admitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai after testing positive\nfor coronavirus<\/a>,\nhas been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Hospital\nauthorities said SPB is on life support and his condition remains critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A statement released by MGM Healthcare reads,\n\u201cThere has been a setback in the health of Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam who had\nbeen admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of COVID since 5th August 2020. In\na late night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated,\nand based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has\nbeen moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his\ncondition remains critical. He is currently under observation by the team of\nexperts from critical care and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are\nbeing closely monitored.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last week, SP Balasubrahmanyam posted a video\non Facebook<\/a> revealing that he has been\ndiagnosed with COVID-19<\/a>.\nHowever, he said the infections were mild in nature and he would be out of the\nhospital in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSince 2-3 days I was having discomfort.\nChest congestion which for a singer is nonsense. I also had phlegm formation,\ncold and fever. These three things. Otherwise, I didn\u2019t have any problem. I did\nnot want to take it easy so I went to the hospital to get myself checked. They\nsaid it is a mild case of corona. I was asked to stay home and\nself-quarantine,\u201d SPB said in the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And yet he preferred to get hospitalized just\nto put the mind of his family at ease. \u201cThank you so much for your concern.\nPlease don\u2019t bother calling me. I am fine. I will be fine,\u201d he added, before\nending the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As soon as news about SP Balasubrahmanyam\nemerged online, many celebrities including AR Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, Chinmayi\nSripaada, Dhanush<\/a>, R\nSarathkumar among others prayed for the singer\u2019s speedy recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A.R.Rahman tweeted, \u201cI request all the music\nfans to pray for this legend along with me ..#SPBalasubrahmanyam ..he has given\nus so much joy with his amazing voice!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet us hope & pray that the omnipotent\u2019s\ngrace reverses the setback in #SPBalasubramanyam s health & he recovers to\nenthral us with his beautiful songs. Wishing #SPB speedy recovery,\u201d R\nSarathkumar wrote on Twitter. His wife and actor Radikaa Sarathkumar posted,\n\u201cMy prayers to #SPBalasubrahmanyam sir for a speedy recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chinmayi Sripaada shared on Twitter, \u201cPraying\nfor SPB sir.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n On Friday night, SP Balasubrahmanyam\u2019s\nson SP Charan took to Twitter to dismiss rumours about the singer\u2019s demise.\nCharan tweeted, \u201cThe news that is out on #puthiyathalaimurai is not correct.\n#spb is critical but is in safe hands at #Mgm healthcare. We are all confident\nthat #spb Will be back with all of us sooner than later. Thank you all for your\nconcern and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
